Dear Parents,
WELCOME to Kindergarten!!!! My name is Janel Robinson, and I am your child’s Kindergarten teacher for the 2013-2014 school year. I am very excited to be working with you and your child!!!!
Let me begin by telling you a little about myself. I have been happily married for 23 years, and I have three wonderful children ages 21, 17, & 6. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Clothing & Text Tiles, and My Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Cheyney University. I have taught Kindergarten for a total of ten years. I have been on assignment at Benefield Elementary for 5 years. I taught 1st grade for one year and Kindergarten for four years at Benfield Elementary School.
As an Educator for Gwinnett County I have participated in and completed professional development in the following areas: Vision 2016, Literacy Institute, Math Institute, Social Studies & Science Staff Development, EClass (technology enhancement) and Positive Classroom Management. As a result of this training and best practices; I was selected by Benefield Elementary Leadership Team to be a Lab Classroom for the 2011-2012 School Year, Host Classroom, and Grade Team Manager for the 2013-2014 School Year.
I have high expectations of all my students. Gwinnett County states that all kindergarten students must read at a level D/5 by the end of the school year. I am proud to say that for the last five years my students have exceeded the standard at a level of 98%. As an educator, I believe that all children can learn, children need a warm and inviting atmosphere to learn, and children should have access to an education which meets their needs. My goal is to strive to meet the needs of all students and equip them with the skills needed to work independently, as well as, and cooperatively with others. I believe that students will be encouraged to do their best regardless of their strengths and weakness. I also believe that children need a safe environment to express themselves through verbal communication and written communication.
Finally, I believe that my responsibility is to produce well rounded, confident, and productive students who will exceed the standards that are set before them. Thank you for allowing me to be your child’s classroom teacher for the 2013-2014 school year. Feel free to contact me at any time.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Robinson
